The Shaanxi Provincial Food and Drug Administration in China issued a drug quality announcement on September 4, 2018, following province-wide sampling inspections. The inspections revealed nine batches of drugs from various manufacturers to be non-compliant with quality standards. Manufacturers identified include Zhenyuan County Kangping Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Hebei Quantai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Hubei Zhengguang Jiuzihe Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Zhangshu Rende Traditional Chinese Medicine Pieces Co., Ltd., Anhui Huadingtang Traditional Chinese Medicine Pieces Technology Co., Ltd., Hubei Daodi Medicinal Herbs Technology Co., Ltd., and Shijiazhuang Chengxin Traditional Chinese Medicine Co., Ltd. The main violations encompassed critical quality parameters such as drug identification, physical appearance, general inspection criteria, and active content determination. All assessments were based on the "Chinese Pharmacopoeia 2015 Edition, Part I." In response, relevant municipal and local food and drug regulatory departments have implemented necessary control measures for the implicated companies and are conducting investigations, with actions to be taken in accordance with applicable laws and regulations to safeguard public health and medication safety.
