China NMPA Drug Inspection - Jingmen Ruikang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. - Traditional Chinese Medicine Decoction Pieces

The Shandong Provincial Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) issued an announcement on October 30, 2017, detailing significant findings regarding Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) decoction pieces. Following comprehensive tests by eight drug testing institutions, 31 batches of TCM decoction pieces produced by 22 companies, including prominent names such as Bozhou Haomen TCM Decoction Pieces Co., Ltd., Heze Jianmin TCM Decoction Pieces Co., Ltd., and Hubei Daodi Medicinal Materials Technology Co., Ltd., were declared unqualified or substandard. Issues were identified in various TCM types, including Bletilla striata and Pheretima aspergillum. Operating under the national regulatory framework, the SFDA mandated immediate and stringent actions. Municipal food and drug administrations were directed to implement control measures such as sealing, seizing, suspending sales, and recalling the substandard drugs. Legal cases have been initiated against the responsible manufacturers and sampled units. Additionally, municipal bureaus are required to enhance supervision of these products and companies, ensuring thorough investigations into the root causes of the deficiencies and the prompt implementation of effective rectification measures to mitigate potential risks to public health and safety.
