FDA EIR - Tampa Maid Foods, Inc. - April 07, 2025
Tampa Maid Foods underwent an FDA Contract Inspection by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services on April 07, 2025. The inspection, focusing on Seafood HACCP, revealed significant deficiencies in sanitation control records and facility maintenance. The main violation, 21 CFR 123.11(b), highlighted that daily pre-operation sanitation inspection records from March 7, 2025, inaccurately marked equipment as "Acceptable." In reality, observations included uncleanable holes from missing bolts on a production line, jagged metal edges on another, and peeling guides contacting food products—many of which were repeat observations from previous inspections in 2023 and 2021. Furthermore, a gap in a ceiling tile above exposed products and heavily cracked, pitted floors resulting in standing water were noted. To achieve compliance, Tampa Maid Foods is required to correct all observed violations in accordance with Chapter 500, Florida Statutes, and Rule 5K-4, Florida Administrative Code. This necessitates revising sanitation documentation and rectifying the identified equipment and structural issues.
