FDA WARNING_LETTER - DW Trading Inc. - May 26, 2010
On September 30, 2010, the FDA issued a Warning Letter to DW Trading Inc. following an inspection of their Indianapolis, Indiana food processing and storage facility from May 18-26, 2010. The inspection revealed serious violations of the Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) regulation for foods (21 CFR Part 110), rendering food products adulterated under Section 402(a)(4) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act.
Key violations included: 1. **Failure to protect against contamination (21 CFR 110.93):** Rodent excreta pellets were found on finished food packaging and in flour lots, which also contained bird-like feathers. Bird droppings, live and dead insects were observed on flour bags, and rodent gnaw marks on potato starch. Cooler condensate dripped on exposed ready-to-eat cabbage, and a utensil for scooping ice was found on an oil and mold-contaminated surface. 2. **Unsanitary facility maintenance (21 CFR 110.35(a)):** A leaking roof dripped onto mandarin oranges.
