FDA WARNING_LETTER - North Creek Farm - April 14, 2025
North Creek Farm received an FDA Warning Letter on September 24, 2025, following an inspection from February 24, 2025, to April 14, 2025. The inspection of their shell egg farm and processing facility revealed serious violations of the Prevention of Salmonella Enteritidis in Shell Eggs During Production, Storage, and Transportation regulation (21 CFR Part 118).The primary violation was the absence and non-implementation of a written Salmonella Enteritidis (SE) Prevention Plan. Specific deficiencies included a lack of documentation for SE-monitored pullets and their environmental testing, and inadequate biosecurity measures. Furthermore, the farm failed to implement effective rodent, fly, and other pest control, with no monitoring for these pests and observations of unsanitary conditions such as broken eggs outside, water leaks, and condensation, which could attract pests. The company also lacked a written plan for cleaning and disinfection of poultry houses. These violations mean the shell eggs are considered adulterated under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, implying they were held under unsanitary conditions potentially leading to contamination. The FDA noted no written response to the initial inspectional observations. North Creek Farm is required to develop and implement a comprehensive SE Prevention Plan addressing all identified issues, including proper pullet sourcing, robust biosecurity, effective pest control, and detailed cleaning and disinfection protocols.
