FDA WARNING_LETTER - Radhaswamy Inc. dba Raja Foods LLC - August 12, 2024
On January 14, 2025, the FDA issued a Warning Letter to Radhaswamy Inc. dba Raja Foods LLC following Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) inspections conducted from August 1-12, 2024, and previously from February 7-March 17, 2023. The inspections aimed to assess compliance with section 805 of the FD&C Act and 21 CFR part 1, subpart L.
The primary violation identified was the failure to develop, maintain, and follow an FSVP for most imported foods from foreign suppliers, as required by 21 CFR part 1.502(a), with the sole exception of mustard powder from one supplier. The company failed to respond to a Form FDA 483a issued on August 12, 2024, and their response to a previous 483a from March 17, 2023, lacked any FSVP documentation.
The FDA noted that the company was aware of Mung (Moong) beans from a specific foreign supplier being added to Import Alert 99-08 due to pesticide adulteration. This indicates a failure to take prompt corrective actions as required by 21 CFR 1.508(a) when a foreign supplier produces adulterated food.
Failure to address these violations may result in refusal of admission for imported
